Autumn War

2004

September 16-20, Barony of Blatha An Oir

It rained, and rained, and rained.....and then it rained a little bit, too.  We had a great time, as always, and Olcan won the torchlight tournament on Friday night.  It was his first tournament win, so we're pretty proud.  Since it was raining, we got no pictures of the war or tournament - the digital camera was borrowed and I didn't want to get it wet.

We had company in our encampment this year.  Sara camped with us and made it all much more fun.
Thanks, Sara for making me be brave and go socialize!  Almonds and Apricots for you!

Saturday night we went out "camp crawling".  This essentially means that you wander around and visit the other encampments and visit, and are sometimes offered great amounts of food and drink.  We visited four encampments that were having big parties, and were made to feel very welcome at all of them.  Many thanks to Clan Carn, Clan Moonbane, the Norse encampment, and to Lord Sylverstone for great hospitality and very entertaining atmosphere.  I am also very thankful that my new cloak did such a good job of repelling rain!

Sunday dawned clear and I ran out with my camera to take some shots of the great encampments before they tore down and started heading home.  The road around the event was so muddy from all the rain and traffic that they ended up closing down parts of it.  You can see the muddy ruts in some of the pictures.
